At the forefront of the fight to secure a resilient, low‐carbon energy system, Ofgem is strengthening the way we oversee the health of Britain's electricity networks. We are looking for two Senior Engineers – Electrical to join us and play a leading role in building and delivering a new Asset Health Inspectorate that will provide expert assurance across licensed energy companies.

Ofgem is Great Britain's independent energy regulator. We are at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people. With an excellent benefits package and opportunities for flexible and hybrid working, we are offering two permanent opportunities within our Engineering & Technology directorate at an exciting point of growth and transformation.

You will join a newly created Asset Health & Network Resilience team, shaping how we oversee infrastructure performance, resilience and long‐term asset stewardship across the sector. This is a rare opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with national regulatory impact. Operating across engineering and regulation, you will provide authoritative insight that strengthens our technical capability.

You will contribute to the evolution of asset health frameworks, standards and risk metrics, while supporting the establishment and operation of a formal Asset Health Inspectorate. You will also have the opportunity to engage widely across the sector, supporting resilience‐related investigations, contributing to climate resilience considerations, and promoting best practice in asset management.

We are looking for candidates with strong experience in electrical asset management within electricity transmission or distribution networks, alongside a deep technical understanding of asset health, lifecycle and infrastructure resilience. You will bring credible engineering expertise, clear communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical issues for non‐technical audiences. A relevant engineering degree and professional qualification will underpin your capability.

In return, you will join an inclusive, mission‐driven organisation where engineering excellence is valued and respected. These roles may particularly appeal to highly experienced engineers, including those seeking a new challenge later in their careers, who want to apply their expertise in a way that delivers lasting public value. However, we are eager to hear from suitably qualified engineers at any stage of their career.

We have a critical purpose to strengthen asset health and network resilience across Great Britain's electricity infrastructure, ensuring the system is robust enough to support Net Zero and future demand.
