We’re looking for a Junior Software Developer to join us and help build, improve and support the digital services that underpin some of our most important environmental and regulatory schemes. Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re looking for someone with a strong interest in software development and experience working with core technologies such as C#, ASP.NET and SQL Server, alongside an understanding of debugging and fault diagnosis. You’ll bring an organised and proactive approach, with the ability to manage development tasks and problem resolution effectively, as well as an eagerness to build your knowledge across modern development tools, cloud technologies and Agile delivery environments.

• Monitor site uptime and site reliability and take necessary action
• Stewardship and ownership of work items
• Work from support tickets to diagnosis of fault and then action or refer to appropriate 3rd line teams
• Write code according to standards, and security review tools
• Meet individual and contribute to the Applications Teams SLAs
• Onboard and mentor new colleagues to the team
• Working with project managers, technical leads and subject matter experts to develop, maintain and support key Ofgem scheme applications.
• Complete personal training as per learning objectives relating to technical skills with the objective of becoming a full stack developer and undertake greenfield development of Ofgem schemes.

• Triage of service requests and/or Incidents by replication and in turn identifying the appropriate solution
• Maintain Service Request tickets and items on Azure DevOps backlog
• Maintain documentation relating to the Application Support Team and contribute to the wider Digital Development Teams documentation store in various locations, such as the Azure wiki, Confluence, SharePoint
• Identify improvements in the Applications Support work area
• Supporting the Development Team within an agile project setting, delivering a variety of work items accordingly and meeting sprint timelines
• Actively participating & collaborate with colleagues across Ofgem, in particular, Digital Development Team (of which Applications Support is a part), Digital Delivery, Delivery & Schemes, Digital Data & Delivery Services
