We are an independent energy regulator working to create a fairer, more resilient and more competitive energy market.
The Senior Economist will provide economic expertise to influence major regulatory decisions across the energy sector’s Markets Group and support the regulator’s vision and strategy for energy markets, including the secure, affordable and sustainable transition to Net Zero.
Responsibilities
- Undertake robust quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform sound advice on key policy decisions.
- Assess the reliability of evidence and provide objective advice.
- Produce clear drafting for external and internal audiences, including briefings, decision documents and consultations.
- Ensure project management, quality assurance and timely delivery of behavioural science and research outputs.
- Maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and collaborate across team boundaries.
- Contribute to building the team's capability through knowledge sharing and support for colleagues’ projects.
- Provide expert economic advice on regulatory and policy issues, embed analysis in decision‑making processes, and monitor market developments.
- Interpret evidence, identify economic risks and propose mitigations.
- Present analysis orally and in writing.
- Represent the regulator at external events and conferences.
