Deputy Director Future Organisation and Operating Model

The energy sector is changing rapidly, and Ofgem needs to evolve with it. We’re looking for a Deputy Director of Future Organisation and Operating Model to help define what Ofgem needs to become and ensure we’re ready for the challenges ahead. Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers – especially vulnerable people.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to shape the future of a nationally significant regulator at a pivotal moment for the energy sector. You’ll have the scope to influence Ofgem at an organisation-wide level, helping determine the structures, culture, capabilities and ways of working that will enable us to remain effective, trusted and ready for the future. Working closely with our Chief Executive, Executive Committee and Board, you’ll have direct access to the people shaping Ofgem’s long-term direction and the opportunity to influence some of our most important strategic decisions. This is a role with genuine reach, giving you the platform to challenge thinking, bring fresh ideas to the table and leave a lasting legacy on how Ofgem operates. You’ll be joining a brand-new team with the opportunity to help define it from the ground up. From shaping its culture and ways of working to establishing how it collaborates and creates impact across Ofgem, you’ll have the chance to build a team and a working environment that reflects your experience, ideas and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Help define what Ofgem needs to become and ensure we’re ready for the challenges ahead.
• Influence Ofgem at an organisation-wide level, determining structures, culture, capabilities and ways of working.
• Work closely with the Chief Executive, Executive Committee and Board to shape Ofgem’s long-term direction.
• Influence some of Ofgem’s most important strategic decisions.
• Challenge thinking, bring fresh ideas to the table and leave a lasting legacy on how Ofgem operates.
• Help define a brand-new team from the ground up, including its culture and ways of working.
• Establish how the team collaborates and creates impact across Ofgem.
• Build a team and working environment that reflects your experience, ideas and leadership.
• Tackle complex, high-profile work that defines what comes next for Ofgem.
• Work on questions that will shape Ofgem for years to come.

Required Skills

• Experience shaping strategy and leading complex organisational change.
• Track record of developing and implementing organisational strategies, operating models, organisational design or transformation programmes.
• Ability to turn complex evidence and strategic priorities into practical plans.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience tackling complex, high-profile work that goes beyond the immediate challenge to define what comes next.
• Desire to broaden your influence and continue to grow as a senior leader.

Pay range and compensation package
