ORE Catapult is the UK’s leading technology innovation and research centre for offshore renewable energy. We work collaboratively with industry, academia and government to accelerate the development, demonstration and deployment of offshore renewable technologies. Our Research & Innovation team plays a critical role in delivering high-quality insights that support innovation, investment decisions and future project funding across the offshore renewables sector.
Position
The Techno-Economic Analyst will play a pivotal role in delivering robust financial, market and economic analysis to support offshore renewable innovation projects. The role focuses on developing, enhancing and interlinking detailed techno-economic models to generate high-quality insights for both internal and external stakeholders.
Working autonomously while collaborating closely with colleagues across ORE Catapult, you will contribute to thought leadership and help shape the understanding of the economic landscape for offshore renewables. The role involves delivering market, financial and economic analysis of new offshore renewable innovations, maintaining and developing financial databases, improving internal techno-economic tools, and identifying new data sources.
You will also contribute to Analysis & Insights publications and represent ORE Catapult at conferences, working groups and customer meetings, collaborating with a wide range of internal teams and external partners, including academic institutions, industry stakeholders and the finance and investment community.
Requirements
Essential
- PhD or equivalent subject matter expertise in a technical, mathematical or scientific discipline
- Proven experience in a similar role within an academic, technical, consultancy or strategic environment
- Strong financial and economic modelling skills
- High proficiency in MS Excel and other analytical tools, including experience developing in-house models or tools
- Experience in market analysis and innovative product development
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing requirements
- Confidence in communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and commercial audiences
- Ability to make rational, commercially grounded decisions
- Innovative and creative approach to analysis and modelling
Desirable
- Knowledge of, and experience working within, the renewable energy or wider energy sector
- Financial background relevant to technology or infrastructure investment
