Position
We are seeking a Commercial Manager to join our team, supporting the delivery of capital build projects under NEC contracts. This is a part‑time, fixed‑term role, working 22.5 hours per week until July 2028. In this role, you’ll work closely with the NEC Project Manager and NEC Supervisor to ensure robust cost control, accurate forecasting, and contractual compliance, contributing to the successful delivery of projects. You’ll play a key role in managing change, advising on commercial risk, and ensuring all commercial documentation is produced and maintained to a high standard.
What will I do?
- Report to the NEC Project Manager with responsibility for all project‑related costs.
- Collaborate with the NEC Supervisor (responsible for Safety & Quality) to support the Project Manager and contribute to the successful outcome of the project.
- Create and manage change notes, technical queries, and other formal documentation required for contract administration.
- Prepare project cost forecasts, including monthly financial reporting.
- Carry out monthly certification of Option A and Option C contracts.
- Prepare cost estimates and review contractors’ cost plans.
- Assess the cost implications of Value Engineering proposals.
- Review tender returns and negotiate fixed prices for Option A contracts.
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure contract compliance.
- Confirm that all required insurances and collateral warranties are in place.
What are we looking for?
- A Quantity Surveying Degree is essential.
- Experienced in the setup and delivery of projects from a financial perspective.
- NEC Option A & C preparation and delivery experience.
- Desirable to have contract drafting legal skills and negotiation of Deeds of Variation.
- Think project/Cemar or Sypro experience.
- Financially astute, attention to detail.
- Experience of complex industrial builds.
- Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgment, and assertiveness.
- Looks ahead to identify problems whilst working towards solutions.
