Role Summary
We are seeking an External Affairs Adviser to support the delivery of our public affairs and stakeholder engagement activities. Working within our Corporate Affairs team, you will help build and maintain relationships with key political, governmental and industry stakeholders, monitor policy developments, and contribute to advocacy activities that support our members and the wider offshore energy industry.

Key responsibilities
- Support the delivery of public affairs campaigns, stakeholder engagement activities and advocacy initiatives aligned with OEUK's priorities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with politicians, civil servants, regulators, industry bodies, member companies and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor political, parliamentary and policy developments, providing timely intelligence and updates to colleagues and members.
- Prepare high-quality briefing papers, consultation responses, correspondence, speaking notes and other stakeholder communications.
- Support parliamentary groups, working groups, stakeholder events and engagement programmes, including governance and secretariat activities.
- Represent OEUK at meetings, industry events and stakeholder engagements across the UK when required
What We’re Looking For
We're looking for a motivated and politically aware individual with experience in public affairs, policy, stakeholder engagement or communications who is keen to further develop their career in external affairs.
You will be a strong communicator with excellent research and analytical skills, capable of turning complex information into clear, concise and impactful briefings and communications.
You'll be skilled at building relationships and working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, while remaining organised and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- A genuine interest in politics, public policy and the UK's energy sector.
- The ability to build credibility with stakeholders and maintain productive professional relationships.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

You are passionate about politics, policy and current affairs, with strong research, analytical and communication skills. You build effective stakeholder relationships, produce high-quality written briefings and communications, and can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Above all, you are proactive, collaborative and keen to develop your career within a team supporting the UK's offshore energy industry.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time role working 9am -5pm, Monday to Friday in a hybrid office environment with additional hours worked as required for external affairs activities.
