We are seeking a tenacious New Business hunter to join our Business Development team, covering a territory from Wellington and the South Island, scoping opportunities across the public and private sectors. You will thrive in the challenge of a hunt and use your business acumen and drive to get in front of new customers, representing our expansive range of workplace solutions.
Reporting to our National Sales Manager - New Business, you will be joining a high-performing and supportive team given the freedom to seek out new opportunities while also collaborating on campaigns and projects.
Key Responsibilities- Achieve Sales revenue, gross profit, margin % and conversion targets
- Drive the business development sales process through phone/email cold calling, qualifying leads, identifying pain‑points and opportunities, solution selling, proposal development, negotiation, new customer implementation and handover
- Develop leads and capture new account opportunities through upselling, cross‑selling and prospecting, following up on inbound leads, following up on outbound marketing campaigns, relationship networks, market intelligence and key customer contacts or staff changes
- Collaborate with other sales and operational team members when conducting joint face‑to‑face/online/showroom customer visits and interactions
- Ensure the delivery of a high-quality customer experience, maintaining a full understanding of the OfficeMax sales offer, including the relevant specialised products and services, as relates to the assigned sector/industry and as directed by the National Sales Manager, Business Development
- Maintain a robust, balanced pipeline of customer prospects to ensure sales and GP targets are regularly met
- Ensure all pipeline and customer information and activity is up to date in Salesforce CRM
- Convert leads and opportunities, ensuring all new business sales decisions are based on commercial acumen, accurate, timely analysis of data and alignment with the Business Development Sales Plan
- 3‑5+ years business development experience
- Successful record of gaining new business and customers, and consistent achievement of sales targets
- Demonstrated experience in customer negotiations
- Previous experience using ERP systems, preferably Salesforce, Pronto and Seismic
- Commercial, logistics and problem‑solving skills
- Empathetic and adaptable interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Sustainability and HS&W champion
