Location: Slough (on-site 5 days a week)

About the Role:

Are you passionate about innovation, startups, and creating vibrant business communities? As Slough Workshop Manager you will be responsible for running and maintaining the hub’s workshops, creating a safe and welcoming environment for members. This includes working with our community of startups and engineers to support their projects through inductions into the space, training them on machinery, making sure the space works for their needs and facilitating connections to our team of experts. The role also oversees machine maintenance and workshop H&S as well as supporting the Location Manager with tours. As part of the wider team, your role will include fostering a collaborative approach to work.

Requirements

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing a safe working environment
  • Experience managing maintenance and supplier relationships
  • Experience managing budgets and procurement
  • Advanced CAD, 3D Printing and prototyping machine knowledge and practical skills
  • Familiar with a range of model making and prototyping techniques including CNC, laser cutting, Lathes, Milling, metal work, woodwork, Plastic wood, silicon casting, foam modelling, application of paints and finishes etc (you do not need to know all of these on day one but have a good base of knowledge and been keen to learn new things)
  • Health and Safety practical skills or Diploma across machining workshops and office and building management.
  • Strong team player who can collaborate effectively with different stakeholders/disciplines
  • Strong relationship building, motivational and prioritisation skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail with management of compliance policies and processes

  • Provide a good role model for staff and trainees and project a positive image to internal and external contacts, customers and wider stakeholders
  • Demonstrate the Company’s culture, values and behaviours
  • Take responsibility for own self-development on a continuous basis
  • Carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Data Protection Act and our current Data Protection policy
  • Carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Company’s Equal Opportunities Policy and Environmental Policy
  • Work at all times within the code of the Health & Safety Act
  • Supporting interns and apprentices as and when required
