Our long-standing manufacturing client, based in Bolton, is looking for an experienced and capable Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. The company delivers complex manufacturing and engineering projects across a diverse range of industries, including nuclear, oil & gas, defence, marine, industrial, pharmaceutical, architectural and water.
With a varied project portfolio and technically challenging work, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of commercially significant projects within a well-established manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain comprehensive contract documentation, including applications for payment, quotations, variations and contractual notifications, ensuring all documentation is submitted in accordance with the relevant contract terms and conditions.
- Monitor and control contract income and expenditure, including interim and final applications for payment, final accounts and recovery of outstanding or late payments.
- Liaise with clients, Project Managers and Senior Management to ensure effective commercial management and resolution of contractual matters.
- Produce accurate and timely monthly commercial reports for the Commercial Manager, including:
- Cost & Value Reports (CVR)
- Cashflow forecasts
- Cost-to-complete forecasts
- Turnover forecasts
- WIP reports
- Risk & opportunity registers
- Earned Value Analysis
- Ensure all commercial information is complete, accurate and submitted within required timescales.
- Maintain full contractual and commercial compliance in accordance with company policies, procedures and governance requirements.
- Take ownership of commercial performance throughout the full project lifecycle, from contract award through to final account.
- Support and lead commercial negotiations, contractual discussions and dispute resolution where required.
Skills & Experience Required
- 7-10 years' experience in a commercial or Quantity Surveying role within main contracting, manufacturing or project delivery.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, steel works, engineering or industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of JCT, NEC and IChemE contracts.
- Proven experience managing the full commercial lifecycle of projects.
- Demonstrable experience leading commercial negotiations and managing contractual disputes.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, with hands-on experience in CVR, forecasting, cost control and commercial reporting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, project teams and senior management.
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £55,000 per annum

- Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
- Office-based position in Bolton
- Working hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am to 12:00pm
