My client is a well-established precision engineering company that specialises in fabricating and welding pipework, steelwork and mechanical engineering projects for the water and utilities industries, delivering high-quality installations. Due to continued expansion, they have opportunities for an experienced Supervisor to join their team headquartered in Gloucester.
The position expedites pipefitting and welding activities safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety management systems and best working practices in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and Business Objectives to ensure that the performance and availability of mechanical systems meets the standards required to achieve production targets, whilst managing a small team of Pipefitters. The role is site-based with occasional staying away. Travel time is door to door and you will be covering the UK.
Duties:
- To delegate pipe fitting duties to the team
- To manage work schedules in the team
- Carry out own pipefitting, steelwork fabrication/repair & welding activities, planned and reactive, at clients' site, as directed, to ensure facilities are maintained in compliance with company processes and EH&S, design and maintenance standards
- Accurately measure and fabricate pipe spools to high tolerance
- Be able to read and draw isometric pipe plan
- Must be able to tack all pipework together
- Ideally will be able to weld pipe minimum tig
- Be able to fabricate pipe and fittings accurately to different angles such as offsets, lateral branches etc
- Must have an eye for detail and team leading experience
Requirements:
- Requires recognised pipefitting qualification (e.g. Apprenticeship)
- Knowledge of relevant mechanical engineering principles and practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information
