The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Bedfordshire has an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) as Head of Policy, Missions and Commissioning. This is a pivotal leadership role with the opportunity to shape the future of policing and community safety across Bedfordshire. You will be at the heart of strategic decision making, driving reform that directly impacts lives.

One of the core responsibilities of the role is to drive the development and delivery of the Police and Crime Plan and the Commissioner’s commitment to his mission-based approach.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, guidance and oversight of the commissioning function and the restorative justice team, including managing staff performance, staff development and staff welfare.
  • Oversee the work of the Policy team; undertake research and gather objective evidence to support policy making and influence policy decisions.
  • Ensure that the PCC and DPCC are ahead of policy change through evidence-based analysis.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, government bodies, and national networks to support strategic policy and commissioning work.
  • Support delivery against the local Police and Crime Plan through the OPCC’s core functions including policy and performance, governance and compliance, and partnership working.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experience leading policy, commissioning and related public-sector functions; ability to drive strategy and implement policy changes.
  • Ability to undertake research and gather objective evidence to inform policy decisions.
  • Competency and Value Framework (CVF) Level 1.
