The Band 4 Communications and Social Media Manager will lead ONR's social media activity, developing and delivering engaging content that supports the organisation's strategic objectives.
About The Role
The role holder will drive innovation in social media, build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, expand our reach and ensure ONR's online presence is effective, evidence-based and aligned with good practice. They will also deliver other Communications and engagement activities in support of ONR’s mission and priorities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and evaluate digital communication activity and products, and lead ONR’s strategic approach to its social media channels.
- Independently plan and develop digital content for use across social media and other channels, working closely with colleagues.
- Act as an ambassador for digital innovation within the Communications team and wider ONR.
- Stay informed about digital trends and techniques by following emerging practices and horizon scanning across the sector and in line with Government Communications Service guidance.
- Develop existing monitoring and reporting activities to measure the effectiveness of social media and digital activity.
- Produce copy, news stories and internal/external articles to support the delivery of communications activity and campaigns.
- Support our response to media enquiries when required in collaboration with the Senior Communications Managers and other colleagues.
- Act as a key point of contact to a designated ONR directorate providing communications support, including planning and handling advice, and sourcing proactive news stories for internal and external audiences.
- Support the wider communications team in the delivery of engagement activities, events and other ‘business as usual’ tasks.
Location / Travel
This post may be undertaken from a base at any one of ONR’s office locations (Bootle, Cheltenham, or London). ONR operates hybrid working (working in the office and or at home) as part of our flexible working policy. There is an expectation that everyone will spend time in the office on a regular basis, recognising that some work is better done face to face. Managers will work with their teams on what works best to meet individual, team, business and organisational needs to enable collaboration, as well as balancing personal choice and wellbeing.

Qualifications
A communications or media related qualification including CIPR, NCTJ or appropriate professional experience.
Other Requirements
A UK driving licence is not required for this role. However, there will be a requirement to travel to ONR’s Bootle office to attend meetings and team events as well as some occasional travel to other sites or external locations.
