We're looking for experienced Radiation Protection professionals to join our specialist inspector team, applying their expertise across a diverse range of UK nuclear sites and activities while helping to shape radiation protection standards across the sector.
The role involves assessing and inspecting radiological protection arrangements across the UK's civil nuclear industry, helping to ensure people are protected from the risks posed by ionising radiation. Your work will include:
- Assessing safety cases, emergency arrangements and regulatory compliance.
- Contributing to research, guidance development, training and national and international engagement.
This is a unique opportunity to gain insight across the wider nuclear industry, observing radiological protection practices at a range of duty holders and using that experience to help influence good practice across the sector. About you:
- Extensive experience applying radiological protection principles and dose optimisation techniques.
- Experience advising on compliance with radiation protection legislation and preparing or reviewing safety cases and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of the nuclear sector or another high-hazard industry.
- Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues and exercise sound professional judgement.
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific, engineering or technical discipline, together with Chartered status or equivalent professional standing.
