Are you a proactive finance professional with experience across Sales Ledger, Credit Control and Purchase Ledger processing?

Are you an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, able to explain complex financial matters in clear and simple terms?

Are you confident in your understanding of the double entry accounting system and able to apply it accurately in your day-to-day work?

Do you have excellent communication skills, utilising discretion and diplomacy to build trusted relationships?

Within this role, you will play a key part in delivering accurate and efficient financial processing, supporting the wider team while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and contributing to the smooth running of the finance function.

What you will be doing:

  • Support all purchasing within a cross section of categories.
  • Support the development, negotiating and commercially managing commercial arrangements that secure best value for money.
  • Support the provision of professional commercial advice and guidance to Legal Ombudsman staff on all contractual issues including procurement strategies and compliance with public procurement regulations; to ensure value for money, legality and propriety in all purchasing.
  • Update and maintain the Tender register and ensure that all contracts documents are saved in the designated shared space.
  • Assist and provide cover for the Purchase ledger function. This will involve raising purchase orders, posting invoices and preparing payments to agreed timescales and ensuring appropriate authorisation levels are maintained.
  • Reconciling Supplier Statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of accruals, prepayments and other reconciliations as required.
  • Assist and provide cover for the Credit Control function. This will involve, issuing of all case fee invoices on a daily basis, chasing and preparing the bad debt provision calculations at month end.
  • Assist the Finance Team with Month End Close process and completing the monthly returns.
  • Assisting with other general administrative tasks such as purchase order processing and taking responsibility for collecting authorisations.

About you:

  • Accounts Payable/Purchase Ledger processing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong telephone skills, able to listen to potentially difficult and complex queries, and remain focused on key points.
  • Experience of an accounting package.
  • Knowledge of the Accounting Double Entry system.
