An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically minded Design Engineer to join a fast growing renewable energy business specialising in commercial and industrial solar PV installations. The Role
This position sits at the centre of the design and delivery process, working across sales, engineering and operations teams. You will play a key role in producing accurate technical drawings and layouts that ensure projects are delivered efficiently on site. Your work will directly contribute to the successful installation of solar PV systems across commercial and industrial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with sales teams, contractors and consultants to gather technical project information
- Produce rooftop solar layouts in AutoCAD including panel positioning, cable routes and equipment placement
- Support system design including inverter layouts and system configuration
- Assist with electrical design documentation and technical drawings
- Contribute to project design development from concept through to installation
- Support preparation of final “as installed” drawings once projects are completed
- Work with the wider team to ensure designs are practical, efficient and commercially viable
What We Are Looking For
Strong AutoCAD skills are the key requirement for this role. The company is open to candidates from a range of design backgrounds who are interested in applying their skills within the renewable energy sector. Candidates may come from areas such as M&E design, electrical design, building services, construction design, mechanical engineering or architectural design.
Essential Requirements

- Experience within renewable energy or solar PV
- Knowledge of PV system design software such as PVSol
- Understanding of electrical system design
