Pay Rate: £18.00 per hour - weekly pay

Duration: 1-2 months, option to become permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday office based

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and organised Assistant Accountant to support the finance function of a busy and growing business based in Tonbridge. Working closely with the senior finance team, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reports, and assisting with month-end accounting activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous accounting experience who is looking to gain employment straight away on a temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Posting daily transactions from bank statements
  • Performing weekly bank reconciliations
  • Processing weekly supplier payments
  • Reconciling sales and purchase ledgers
  • Producing weekly sales and orders reports
  • Posting purchase ledger invoices
  • Preparing monthly journals
  • Producing accounts to trial balance

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the production of management accounts
  • Processing monthly payroll
  • Preparing VAT returns
  • Maintaining holiday and sickness records
  • Undertaking other reasonable duties as required by management

Qualifications

  • Highly organised and able to manage a varied workload
  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative team player
  • Conscientious with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • A logical and analytical thinker
  • Experienced in an Assistant Accountant role
  • Part-qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA or AAT (desirable but not essential)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
