We are currently seeking a motivated and organised Probate Assistant to join a busy Probate and Estate Administration team based in Northampton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills, a keen eye for detail, and an interest in probate and estate administration. Previous experience within a probate, legal, or accountancy environment would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.
The role offers flexibility and the opportunity to develop your knowledge within a supportive and professional environment. You will play an important part in assisting with probate matters, estate administration, and client communications while helping to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and submission of probate applications to relevant authorities.
- Manage client files, ensuring documentation is accurately recorded and maintained.
- Liaise with clients, beneficiaries, and third-party organisations to obtain information and provide updates on estate matters.
- Prepare and manage correspondence including letters, reports, and legal documentation.
- Assist with the collection and distribution of estate assets.
- Support compliance with relevant probate legislation and regulations.
- Provide administrative support to senior probate administrators and partners as required.

Requirements include:
- Previous experience in a probate or administrative role, ideally within a legal or accountancy environment (preferred but not essential).
- An understanding of probate procedures and estate administration, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
