Your Role:
As a Witness Statement Taker, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting witness interviews virtually or in person (you may very occasionally be required to travel for in person meetings)
- Analysing cases and key documents to prepare witness interview plans that address the requirements of an investigation
- Drafting witness statements, in accordance with legal and operational requirements
- Providing legal support to colleagues across the organisation on witness related issues, including in-house lawyers and investigation case officers
- Understanding and applying safeguarding policy and processes for protecting children and adults at risk of harm (including knowing how to recognise, record and report safeguarding).
Suitable candidates for this role will have:
- Previous experience of drafting quality witness statements that meet legal and procedural requirements
- Ideally hold or be working towards a legal qualification
- The ability to thoroughly analyse large volumes of complex information and cases, identify key evidential considerations, and produce high quality accurate documents in response
- The ability to communicate in a compassionate and professional way, including the ability to adapt your communication style and method to suit a wide range of individuals
- The ability to explain legal procedures clearly and provide tailored support to vulnerable individuals
- The ability to prioritise and manage your own time and workload to meet strict deadlines and targets
- Excellent customer service skills ensuring the needs of internal and external customers are met
- Ideally worked within a statutory framework
