ABOUT THE ROLE: The role plays an important part in keeping the firm's finances running smoothly, helping to manage client funds, maintain accurate financial and VAT records, and ensuring any queries or discrepancies are resolved quickly and effectively. You'll support audits and compliance processes, helping the team meet regulatory requirements with confidence and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process client and office transactions, ensuring payments and receipts are accurately recorded and allocated.
- Manage payment processing, including bank transfers, cheques, credit card transactions, and supplier payments.
- Allocate receipts against invoices and monitor outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate client and office account records, ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and regulatory requirements.
- Handle daily banking activities, account reconciliations, and transfers between client and deposit accounts.
- Prepare VAT records and support audits, financial checks, and regulatory reporting.
- Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies while liaising with banks and external organisations on account-related matters.
About You:
- Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Legal Cashier, Finance Administrator, or similar finance-based role.
- Strong knowledge of processing payments, receipts, reconciliations, and financial transactions.
- Experience maintaining accurate financial records and handling high volumes of data with excellent attention to detail.
- Understanding of accounting procedures, banking processes, and VAT administration.
- Experience identifying and resolving discrepancies within financial records.
- Confident using finance software and Microsoft Excel to manage and analyse financial information.
