Location: Canterbury, Kent - Will need to drive due to location
Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm
Hours: 5 Days per Week, 10-12 Hours per Day, Starting at 6:30 AM (Weekend Availability Required)
Salary: 15.70 to 18.02 per hour (dependent on experience)

About the Opportunity: Our client is seeking a dynamic and motivated Planning Manager to join their Production Planning department. This role is crucial in ensuring the seamless execution of planning activities, providing operational support, and maintaining high service levels. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily planning activities, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Foster effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal departments, escalating any strategic matters as needed.
  • Proactively notify the Head of Production Planning of potential operational issues with practical recommendations.
  • Monitor service levels and elevate exceptions to ensure targets and customer expectations are met.
  • Allocate daily duties to the Planning team and maintain appropriate cover during holidays and weekends.
  • Oversee the training programme for new team members, ensuring adherence to best practises.
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, communication, and teamwork within the Planning team.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce unnecessary costs.
  • Provide regular updates to the Head of Production Planning regarding workload and service levels.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Achieve and maintain On Time In Full (OTIF) and customer service targets.
  • Optimise fruit utilisation through effective planning processes.
  • Collaborate with Packhouse Management to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensure planning information and reports are accurate and communicated promptly.

Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise and juggle competing demands.
  • Good numeracy skills and problem-solving capabilities.

Desirable:

  • Experience in coaching or training team members.
  • Background in fresh produce, food production, or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of OTIF, forecasting, and supply chain performance.
