This is an excellent temporary-to-permanent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced professional environment and has strong audio typing and administrative skills.
About the Role
Working within a busy Criminal Law department, you will provide essential administrative and secretarial support, ensuring legal documentation is prepared accurately and efficiently. This role involves working with sensitive and confidential information relating to criminal cases, so professionalism and discretion are essential.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Friday: 9:00am - 4:30pm
Key Responsibilities
- Audio typing and transcribing legal documents using digital dictation software, a headset and foot pedal.
- Producing accurate correspondence, reports and case documentation.
- Liaising with police officers, courts and external agencies to obtain and update case information.
- Following established procedures when gathering information over the telephone.
- Maintaining and updating client records and case management systems.
- Providing administrative support to fee earners and the wider legal team.
- Managing confidential information in accordance with legal and data protection requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in audio typing, digital dictation, legal administration or legal secretarial work.
- Fast and accurate typing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.
- Experience within a legal environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
