Our client is seeking a skilled Accounts Assistant to join their team. As an essential member of the accounting department, the Accounts Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of the company’s financial operations. Location: Farringdon
Contract Details: Permanent
Salary: £35,000 – £38,000
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of day-to-day financial tasks, including:
- Checking bank statements, allocating and reconciling incoming funds against the ledger
- Handling telephone inquiries from suppliers and resolving their queries
- Coding, authorising, and booking purchase invoices
- Matching purchase invoices to purchase orders
- Administering and inputting expense forms in multiple currencies
- Assisting in the preparation of payment runs
- Maintaining daybooks and Ledger Control Accounts
- Reconciling suppliers’ statements
- Managing cashbook administration and performing daily bank reconciliations
- Reconciling credit card transactions
- Performing any ad hoc duties required to support the accounts department
- Filing purchase invoices, sales invoices, and purchase/sales orders
- Providing cover for management accounts duties, including the production and issuance of sales invoices and credit notes
- Regularly liaising with the customer services team
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, specifically in accounts payable and receivables is advantageous
- Hold or be studying towards a relevant accountancy qualification, such as AAT or early stages of ACCA/CIMA is desirable
- Experience working in an SME
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience dealing with high volume and overseas customers/suppliers
- Excellent team working skills, with a professional and commercially aware demeanour
- Enthusiastic, committed, and a fast learner, with prior experience in a busy environment
- Computer literate, with an aptitude for numbers and good MS Office skills
- Ability to work with individuals across departments and communicate effectively with external customers and contacts
- Solid organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload
- Capable of working closely with individuals at all levels within the Europe-wide business
