The Senior Product Lead is the technical owner of the ZincGel BESS product at system level, responsible for defining how ZincGel behaves when deployed on real sites and connected to real grids. This role sits above component-level engineering and below commercial strategy. It owns system architecture definition, integration logic, control behaviour, grid compliance interpretation, and deployment validation, ensuring ZincGel can be repeatedly deployed by EPCs and integrators with predictable performance.
This role requires strong technical depth in BESS system engineering, grid-connected controls, and field deployment.
Core Technical Responsibilities- Define ZincGel system-level architecture (DC block, PCS coupling, AC topology, auxiliary systems).
- Specify operating envelopes: voltage windows, power/energy ratings, ramp rates, protection limits, and fault responses.
- Define product configurations (containerised, cabinet-based, modular blocks) and scalability rules.
- Own system control philosophy across BMS, PCS, EMS, and site SCADA layers.
- Define functional behaviour for grid-connected operation: grid-forming vs grid-following assumptions (where applicable), islanding, black start participation, and fault ride-through behaviour.
- Specify interfaces and handshakes between ZincGel and third-party PCS / EMS vendors.
- Interpret IEC / UL / grid code requirements at system level and translate them into product requirements.
- Own compliance strategy (what is certified at cell, pack, rack, container, and system level).
- Define acceptance criteria for safety, performance, and availability.
- Lead technical definition and execution of pilots (100 kWh to multi-MWh).
- Define and execute FAT / SAT procedures, performance benchmarks, and reliability metrics.
- Diagnose field issues at system level (control interaction, protection trips, integration faults).
- Act as the technical authority for EPCs, system integrators, utilities, and certification bodies.
- Support early commercial projects by answering detailed system-level technical questions.
- Ensure learnings from field deployments are fed back into system specifications.
- 7+ years in BESS system engineering, grid-connected energy systems, or power infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience deploying grid-connected BESS in real projects.
- Strong understanding of: BMS / PCS / EMS interactions, grid interconnection requirements, protection schemes and fault handling at system level.
- Experience with FAT / SAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
- BESS system engineer (integrator or OEM).
- Deployment / commissioning lead with strong system depth.
- Power systems engineer transitioning into product ownership.
Selection Process: Due to the high volume of applications, applicants are required to complete screening questions. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interaction.
