An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Deputy Catering Manager to join one of the UK's most prestigious colleges. Based within an impressive boarding school environment, this role offers the opportunity to join a busy in-house catering operation and play a key role in delivering exceptional food service standards across the site.

Our client is seeking a passionate, hands-on catering professional with ambition, energy, and a positive “can-do” attitude. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys leading teams, and is committed to delivering outstanding operational standards.

The Role

  • Support the management of a busy and diverse catering operation, overseeing daily service delivery, team performance, and operational excellence.
  • Manage and support a catering team of 40+ staff members.
  • Supervise and work closely with 4 Heads of Department.
  • Lead staff training, development, and performance management.
  • Support financial reporting and budget control.
  • Manage purchasing and stock control.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, health & safety, and risk assessments.
  • Drive exceptional customer service and presentation standards throughout the operation.
  • Lead by example, inspire your team, and help create a positive working culture that encourages both employee engagement and improvement.

About You

  • Previous management experience within the education & contract catering sector.
  • A strong background in high-volume catering operations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A calm, resilient, and solution-focused approach under pressure.
  • A genuine passion for food, hospitality, and customer service.
  • Good knowledge of food safety, health & safety, and compliance procedures.
  • A full UK driving licence.
