About the Role
OTC is seeking a Volunteer Compliance Officer to support policy, risk management, and process readiness as we grow. Your role will help ensure staff safety, operational strength, and compliance to secure future funding and expand services.

What We\βre Looking For
As OTC begins employing staff and contracting external mentors, the regulatory standards increase. You will help us meet requirements set by the Charity Commission, funders, employment law, and safeguarding best practices.
- Audit and update OTCβs policies (safeguarding, data protection, health & safety, whistleblowing, etc.)
- Support trustees in maintaining compliance with Charity Commission guidance
- Create a compliance calendar (policy reviews, DBS renewals, insurance checks)
- Coordinate with HR and Safeguarding volunteers to meet legal requirements
- Help establish risk management frameworks and registers
- Provide insights on compliance impact on grants, employment law, and delivery
Qualifications
- Experience in charity governance, policy, legal, risk, safeguarding, or related compliance fields
- Confidence in reviewing policies and identifying risks
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Diplomatic and pragmatic approach to accountability enforcement
Desirable Skills
- Legal background or experience in regulated environments
- Familiarity with GDPR, Charity Commission guidance, or youth-sector safeguarding
- Previous work with community organizations or small charities
What You Will Do
Off the Curriculum is an educational charity inspiring 16β18-year-olds in Lambeth and Southwark to thrive through mentoring, projects beyond the curriculum, and connecting students with role models online and in person.
Hours: Flexible, approximately 2β4 hours per week over 3β6 months, depending on experience and project pace.
Location: Remote, with optional in-person collaboration.
Duration: 3β6 months, with potential to stay on in an advisory capacity.
