What are we looking for?
Essential
- At least 3 years’ professional experience in volunteer management, mentoring/coaching, or a related field such as youth development or programme coordination.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence working with volunteers and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven ability to design, coordinate, or support structured volunteer or mentoring programmes.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks and timelines independently.
- Confident using digital tools (e.g. Google Workspace, scheduling platforms, or CRM systems).
- Commitment to education, youth empowerment, and creating inclusive, supportive environments.
Desirable
- Experience training or supervising volunteers and/or mentors.

The Opportunity
This is a skills-based volunteering opportunity, suitable for someone with a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in volunteer management and/or mentoring and coaching. You will use your expertise to design, refine, and deliver systems and processes that ensure a high-quality, sustainable mentoring programme. Your leadership will create the conditions for mentors and learners to thrive, ensuring every volunteer feels supported and empowered to make a lasting difference. Your work will directly fuel the success of OTC’s flagship initiative, helping unlock potential and open new doors for our engaged students.
What you will be doing
- Designing and overseeing the matching process between volunteer mentors and young people based on interests, goals, and availability.
- Acting as the main point of contact for mentors and stakeholders, providing guidance, coaching, and resolving issues as needed.
- Developing and delivering onboarding and induction sessions to prepare new mentors for their role.
- Organising or supporting training, networking, and feedback events to engage mentors throughout the programme.
- Monitoring and evaluating mentor engagement and performance using internal digital tools and feedback mechanisms.
- Gathering and analysing qualitative and quantitative feedback from mentors and mentees to evaluate impact and improve delivery.
- Collaborating with Recruitment Officers to ensure a smooth transition from recruitment to onboarding.
- Ensuring safeguarding, inclusivity, and accessibility are embedded throughout the mentor experience.
