Role Description
Of Course Italian is seeking enthusiastic and professional Freelance Italian Tutors to deliver engaging, student‑centred Italian lessons to individuals and groups across a range of proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced. Tutors may provide lessons in person (preferably in London) and/or online via Zoom, depending on student requirements.
Responsibilities include planning and delivering high‑quality lessons, preparing learning materials, assessing learner needs, monitoring progress, and providing constructive feedback. Tutors will adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles, support students in developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, and incorporate aspects of Italian language and culture into lessons where appropriate.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate attendance and progress records, communicating availability and scheduling requirements with the coordination team, and creating a welcoming, professional and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Native Italian speaker (or equivalent mother tongue proficiency) with excellent spoken and written English.
- Relevant teaching qualifications or certifications (such as DITALS, CEDILS, DILS‑PG, Languages, Education or Linguistics degrees) are preferred but not essential. Demonstrated teaching experience and excellent communication skills are highly valued.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Italian as a foreign or second language to students of varying ages and proficiency levels.
- Ability to design structured lesson plans, create engaging learning materials, and adapt lessons to individual student goals.
- Familiarity with modern language teaching methodologies, including communicative and task‑based approaches.
- Comfortable using digital teaching tools and platforms, including Zoom, presentation software and online learning resources.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with learners.
- Excellent organisational skills, including lesson planning, scheduling and record keeping.
- Relevant teaching qualification or certification (Languages, Education, Linguistics, Italian Studies or language teaching certification) preferred but not essential.
- Experience preparing learners for exams such as CILS, CELI, GCSE, A‑Level or university assessments is advantageous.
- Availability to teach flexible hours, including evenings and weekends where required.
- Tutors based in London are preferred for in‑person lessons, although remote tutors may also be considered.
