Core Purpose
The Field Service Supervisor (FSS) is responsible for overseeing statutory inspection operations on site, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical specifications and project requirements. The FSS coordinates field technicians, maintains compliance with safety regulations, and ensures accurate reporting to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Supervision and Team Management: Supervise Statutory Inspection technicians and ensure tasks are allocated effectively. Monitor work progress to ensure inspection, service, repairs and testing meet required quality and safety standards. Provide technical and operational guidance to the technician team. Act as the primary on-site liaison with wind farm owners, OEM representatives, and engineering teams where required.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce all safety procedures associated with working at heights and Statutory Inspection works. Ensure proper use of PPE, harnesses, and fall protection systems. Verify adherence to approved risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks prior to commencement of work. Ensure compliance with GWO standards, site rules, and company HSE policies. Provide support to Project Managers.
- Statutory Inspection and Repair Oversight: Supervise Statutory Inspection and repair activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with technical specifications and approved repair methodologies. Act as liaison between the engineering team and technician to develop approved repair methodologies. Coordinate with the technical team to ensure correct execution of all elements of Statutory Inspection works. Confirm correct use and handling of statutory inspection test equipment, COSHH equipment and tooling.
- Reporting and Documentation: Conduct site audits and complete required safety checklists. Report incidents, defects, risks, or delays to the Project Manager in a timely manner. Review and approve Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with contractual and client reporting requirements. Approved DPRs form the formal record of project progress, resources utilised, and operational issues. Review technician reports and findings for quality and compliance, where there are issues and resolve in line with OEG quality policies and procedures. Offer coaching to technicians where required to ensure compliance and team performance. Produce Field Service Feedback Findings reports for submission to the Field Service Manager (FSM).
- Coordination with Stakeholders: Liaise with the Stores and Logistics Manager regarding material and equipment requirements for statutory inspection operations. Provide regular operational status updates to the Project Manager to support project planning and reporting.
