We are currently seeking a WT1 Authorised Wind Turbine Technician - North East to join our Topside Division. Location is open to candidates located anywhere within the United Kingdom. Contract is for 6 months (PAYE).
Core Purpose
The Offshore Service Technician WT1 is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on Siemens offshore wind turbines. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of turbine assets while adhering to all HSE, quality, and technical standards. The position requires offshore rotations, working at height, and collaboration with cross‑functional offshore teams.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Turbine Maintenance and Repair: Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on Siemens offshore wind turbines in accordance with OEM specifications and site procedures. Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Assist with major component exchanges under the direction of senior technicians and site leadership. Conduct detailed inspections, fault diagnosis, and completion of service reports using digital tools and Siemens systems.
- Operational Support: Support commissioning activities, testing, and operational readiness for new or upgraded turbines. Execute SCADA‑guided resets, functional checks, and performance verifications. Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations to supervisors and engineering teams.
- Safety, Compliance and Documentation: Adhere to all offshore safety procedures, including Siemens, client, and site‑specific requirements. Comply fully with GWO, IMCA, LOLER, working‑at‑height, and electrical safety standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, component usage, punch lists, and non‑conformities. Ensure all work is carried out in alignment with environmental, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Work as part of an offshore maintenance team to meet turbine availability and production targets. Participate in daily toolbox talks, risk assessments, and lift planning activities. Provide support to WT2/WT3 technicians and contribute to a positive, safety‑focused work environment.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working with Siemens wind turbine technologies (SWT, SGRE, or similar platforms).
- Competence working at height, in confined spaces, and within an offshore environment.
- High-voltage switching or HV authorisation pathway.
- Previous offshore wind or large rotating machinery experience.
- Familiarity with SAP, OMS, or other maintenance management systems.
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- High commitment to safety and procedural compliance.
- Ability to work in challenging offshore conditions as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and committed to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Recognised technical apprenticeship or qualification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (EQF Level 3+ or equivalent).
- Valid GWO training standards (BST, BTT preferred).
- Offshore medical certification (e.g., OGUK) and Chester Step Test / WFA Fitness certification.
