Core Purpose: The role involves the coordination and control of yard operations to maximise efficiency and to ensure product and service quality is maintained. The Yard Operative will ensure that the control of work in the workshop is maintained to ensure all work activities are carried out as per procedure. The Yard Operative will also be required to assist in all areas of Yard Operations including inspection area activities, painting, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Prioritise and carry out yard operations under the direction of the Yard Team Leader, ensuring customer requirements are met efficiently and to a high standard.
- Participate in daily morning briefings with the Yard Team Leader to plan, coordinate, and prioritise workload effectively.
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the company’s safety, quality, and environmental management systems, ensuring compliance and the retention of relevant accreditations.
- Support the Yard Team Leader in the efficient delivery of all general yard operations and daily activities.
- Ensure compliance with the enforcement of all company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Prepare cargo carrying units for operational use, ensuring they meet company and customer requirements.
- Carry out minor maintenance and repair tasks on cargo carrying units as directed by the Yard Team Leader, ensuring equipment remains safe and operational.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and general upkeep of the yard, ensuring the proper care, storage, and maintenance of all plant, tools, and equipment.
- Load and unload third-party transport vehicles using a forklift truck, ensuring all operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all safety, environmental, and quality controls are rigorously maintained and adhered to.
- Coordinate and undertake additional ad hoc tasks as designated by the Yard Team Leader to support operational requirements.
QHSE Responsibilities:
- To have a general understanding of the areas of our QHSE Management System and OEG’s QHSE aims and objectives that are relevant to the role.
- Comply with the requirements of OEG Energy Group Policies and the responsibilities within the wider QHSE Management System.
- Promoting a proactive health and safety culture focused on the prevention of work-related injury or ill health and continual improvement in our processes / performance.
- Environmental sustainability and energy efficiency whilst minimising our environmental impacts and preventing pollution.
- A quality culture that brings values to our business, our customers and other interested parties ensuring quality issues and opportunities for improvement are identified and implemented.
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to achieve operational objectives.
- Previous hands-on experience in a yard or similar operational environment, supporting daily yard activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications: Forklift License is preferred.
- Working at Height certification is preferred.
