AsaSeniorAnalyticsEngineeratOEC,youwillbethebackboneofourdatalayer-designing,building,andmaintainingthemodelsthatpowerbusinessdecisionsacrossthecompany.Youwillowncriticalareasofourdbtproject,ensureSnowflakedataassetsarecleanandtrusted,andbringamodern,AI-assistedmindsettohowwebuildandshipanalytics.
Thisisaseniorindividualcontributorrole.Youwillleadbyexample,setstandards,mentorpeers,andcollaboratecloselywithDataScientists,ProductManagers,andEngineerstoturnrawdataintoreliable,documented,andgovernedanalyticalassets.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Design,build,andmaintainscalabledbtmodelsfollowingmodular,layeredarchitecture.
- Ownmodelperformance:optimizeSnowflakequeries,configurematerializations(incremental,table,view)andclusteringstrategies.
- Evolvedbtbestpractices:testingcoverage,documentation,andsourcefreshnesschecks.
- CodereviewsfordbtPRs,establishmodelingconventions,andcontributetotheteam’sanalyticsengineeringplaybook.
- DesignSnowflakedatabaseandschemastructures,managerolesandaccesscontrols,andoptimizewarehousesizing.
- Monitorandreducecomputecoststhroughqueryprofiling,resultcaching,andwarehouseauto-suspendpolicies.
- PartnerwithDataPlatform/Engineeringoningestionpipelines,Snowpipeconfigurations,andexternalstagesetups.
- UseClaudeandotherAItoolsasaforcemultiplier:acceleratemodelgeneration,documentationwriting,SQLrefactoring,andtestcreation.
- ChampionAI-assistedworkflowswithintheteam,sharingeffectivepromptingpatternsandusecasesthatimproveteamvelocity.
- Exploreagenticanalyticsworkflowsandcontributetotheiradoption.
- Partnerwithengineersandbusinessstakeholderstotranslateanalyticalrequirementsintorobustdatamodels.
- GuideandmentorAssociateandmid-levelAnalyticsEngineersthroughcodereviews,pairingsessions,andknowledgesharing.
- Defineteamconventionsaroundnaming,folderstructure,modelcontracts,andtestingthresholds.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+yearsofexperienceinanalyticsengineering,dataengineering,oracloselyrelateddatarole.
- Expert-leveldbt(CoreorCloud):layeredmodeling,advancedtesting,macros,packages(dbt-utils,dbt-expectations),andCI/CDintegration.
- DeepSnowflakeexpertise:queryoptimization,materializationstrategies,clusteringandaccesscontrol.
- AdvancedSQLandperformancetuning.
- Strongunderstandingofdatamodelingconcepts.
- ExperiencebuildingormaintainingBIsemanticlayersandworkingwithtoolssuchasSigma,Looker,Tableau,orPowerBI.
- Excellentdocumentationhabits:youbelievemodelswithoutdocsaretechnicaldebt.
- StrongwrittenandverbalEnglishcommunication-youcanexplaindatadecisionstobothengineersandbusinessstakeholders.
