About Odin
Odin is building the investment infrastructure for the future of private markets. We believe capital is one of the most powerful tools for shaping the world - and more people should know how to put it to work. Our mission is to make it radically easier to raise and deploy capital, so that anyone, anywhere, can back the companies and ideas they believe in. Our first product is a full-stack platform for launching and running private investment firms - think Shopify for VC and PE. We handle all the infrastructure: from legal structuring and investor onboarding to KYC/AML, payments, tax, reporting, and exits. We’re already trusted by over 10,000 angels, VCs, and founders. We administer over $500m in assets, covering investments from pre‑seed to series E. This includes household names like ElevenLabs, OpenAI, SpaceX, xAI, Anduril, etc. but also new companies creating everything from synthetic brains to small nuclear reactors.
The Role
This is a Staff Software Engineer role for someone entrepreneurial who has already played a meaningful role in building a business and is ready to do it again. Your responsibility is to radically increase the company’s output using AI and strong systems thinking. You take ambiguous priorities, interrogate them until they make sense, and turn them into shipped outcomes with no surprises. You’ll ship critical product features yourself. You move quickly, understand the product deeply, and deliver with precision. You’ll set a very high technical and talent bar. You know what great looks like because you’ve operated there, you can tell the difference between genuine complexity and unnecessary drag, and you raise standards in a way others can follow. You operate with founder-level ownership and intensity. Shipping the wrong thing, missing obvious edge cases, or letting issues linger isn’t acceptable. When something breaks, you fix it quickly, understand why, and prevent it from happening again.
The kind of person who thrives here
The right person is intense in the best way: action‑oriented, curious, direct, and embarrassed by slow delivery. You don’t “disagree and commit” while still confused. You ask questions until it genuinely makes sense, and you expect the same standard from the team. You’re open-minded without being passive. You can debate hard problems without ego, change your mind when the reasoning is better, and be clear when it isn’t. You’re honest, easy to work with under pressure, and you raise the bar simply by how you operate.
Bottom line
This role helps shape how engineering grows at Odin. You’ll be part of the team setting the tone for how decisions are made, how trade‑offs are handled, how incidents are treated, and how quickly the team moves when something matters.
The Hiring Process
- Interview with Imani, our Head of People & Talent – In this call, you’ll unpack the role and learn more about us, while she ensures you’re the right fit for the position (30‑45 mins)
- Interview with Mary, our Co‑CEO & Co‑Founder – During this initial interview, we’ll touch on topics like culture, values, and your experience to see if there’s alignment on both sides (60 mins)
- Live tasks with the leadership team – Two sessions to see how you think in real time, and to give you a feel for how we’d work together (60 mins)
- Final Interview with Mary & Paddy, our Founders (60 mins) – At this stage, we’re genuinely excited and believe you should spend some time with the founders, learning more about each other and our values.
- Trial Day (Paid) – We’d like to make an offer, but want to ensure that you experience working with us in a real‑world setting and get a feel for our team dynamics and processes. This trial allows both sides to see if the fit is right before making a long‑term commitment, ensuring mutual success.
Our process typically runs over two weeks. We share detailed feedback within 24 hours of each interview stage and aim to line up next steps quickly so momentum isn’t lost.
