Lead Maintenance Engineer £50,000 to £52,000 Basic Salary + Bonus Monday to Friday – Permanent Days 08:30 – 16:30 Early Finish on Fridays No Weekend Working – 1 in 3 Weekend On-Call- but realistic 1 in 6 called out The Role An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established heavy industrial manufacturing business specialising in metal treatment and the production of specialist building and construction products. The site operates 24/7, 365 days a year, supplying products to a range of sectors including automotive, engineering, construction and wider industrial manufacturing. As Lead Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, availability and performance of plant and machinery across the site. You will lead a small engineering team consisting of two Maintenance Engineers and one Apprentice Engineer, providing day-to-day technical leadership, support and guidance while remaining hands-on with electrical fault finding, planned maintenance and breakdown response. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking to progress into a leadership role, while remaining technically hands-on. Working Hours * Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 16:30 * Friday: Early finish * No normal weekend working * 1 in 3 weekend on-call rota * Weekend on-call is compensated separately * Permanent days-based position The role offers a strong work-life balance, with a consistent Monday-to-Friday working pattern and only one weekend on-call requirement every three weeks. Key Responsibilities * Lead and support a team of two Maintenance Engineers and one Apprentice Engineer * Provide day-to-day technical leadership, coaching and development to the engineering team * Coordinate maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability and minimise downtime * Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs * Lead electrical fault finding across a range of industrial machinery and production equipment * Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings * Work with three-phase electrical systems, sensors, contactors, motors, drives and control systems * Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical faults * Support maintenance planning, prioritisation and continuous improvement activities * Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard * Support the development and training of the Apprentice Engineer * Work closely with production and other departments to minimise equipment downtime * Promote a strong safety, reliability and engineering culture across the site * Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to site reliability initiatives * Participate in the 1-in-3 weekend on-call rota, providing remote/telephone support and attending site where required Suitable Backgrounds Maintenance Engineers, Senior Engineers and Lead Engineers from a wide range of industrial environments are encouraged to apply, including: * Heavy Industry * Metal Processing * Metal Treatment * Waste & Recycling * Plastics * Automotive * Building Products * Manufacturing * Industrial Processing
