We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing facility based in Knowsley, Merseyside. Working within a multi-skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis and continuous improvement of high-speed manufacturing and production equipment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong electrical fault-finding skills, with supporting mechanical knowledge, to maximise plant availability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with the site's maintenance schedule and engineering standards.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical and pneumatic faults using a systematic fault-finding approach.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot motors, gearboxes, conveyors, sensors, photoelectric devices, proximity switches, safety circuits, inverters (VFDs), contactors, relays and control panels.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.
  • Perform electrical testing, component replacement and machine recommissioning following repairs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime and increase production efficiency.
  • Assist with machinery installations, commissioning, modifications and planned shutdown activities.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately using CMMS or maintenance management systems.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Health & Safety legislation, including Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), Permit to Work systems and risk assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to ensure optimum plant performance.
  • Participate in engineering shift handovers, communicating equipment status, outstanding issues and completed works.

Candidate Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
  • Time-served Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias.
  • Proven experience maintaining manufacturing, FMCG, packaging, automation or production machinery.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and carry out systematic fault diagnosis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
  • Flexible attitude and ability to work effectively within a fast-paced production environment.

Shift Pattern

  • Monday to Friday
  • 2 weeks: 06:00 – 14:00
  • 1 week: 14:00 – 22:00
  • No night shifts.
