We are currently seeking an experienced Profile Burner / Lumsden Grinder Operator to join our busy fabrication workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting and grinding steel plate components to precise engineering specifications. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong fabrication experience and a solid understanding of heavy steel processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate oxy-fuel and/or plasma profile burning machines (CNC or manual)
- Cut steel plate to engineering drawings and required tolerances
- Operate Lumsden (rotary surface) grinding machines
- Grind components to specified thickness and flatness
- Carry out dimensional checks using measuring equipment
- Maintain machinery and change consumables as required
- Follow all health & safety procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience in profile burning and Lumsden grinding
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working with thick carbon steel plate
- Good understanding of tolerances and surface finishes
- Strong attention to detail
- Overhead crane experience (preferred but not essential)
