Role Overview
An experienced and motivated Process Cooling Service Engineer is required to provide installation support, commissioning, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and servicing of industrial process cooling systems across a range of customer sites. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent technical knowledge, strong fault-finding ability, and a proactive approach to problem solving. They will be capable of working independently while maintaining professional relationships with customers, contractors, and colleagues. A flexible attitude, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are essential.
Essential Qualifications
- Recognised engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Refrigeration, or related discipline).
- Full, valid driving licence.
- Right to work within the UK.
- Health & Safety qualification or relevant practical experience.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications and able to quickly learn specialist software systems.
Essential Experience
- Minimum of five years' experience working as a Process Cooling Service Engineer or in a similar field service role.
- Proven experience carrying out breakdown response, fault diagnosis, repairs, servicing, and planned preventative maintenance.
- Experience commissioning industrial process cooling equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, electrical and mechanical components, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, free cooling systems, adiabatic coolers, and associated control systems.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Competent in diagnosing system faults using appropriate testing equipment and diagnostic techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify practical and effective solutions.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage workload independently while prioritising multiple tasks.
- High level of attention to detail with accurate record keeping and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections and condition assessments of existing process cooling equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control system faults.
- Repair or replace defective components to restore equipment performance and minimise downtime.
- Commission new and refurbished process cooling systems to ensure compliance with technical specifications and operational requirements.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, energy consumption, and overall reliability.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding system operation, maintenance, and best practice.
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, site procedures, and industry standards.
- Support and mentor less experienced engineers where appropriate.
