The Sustainability Assistant will support the delivery of ODGroup’s sustainability and environmental objectives across projects and the wider business. This is an exciting new role for ODGroup and will play an important part in helping the business further develop and strengthen its sustainability initiatives, environmental performance, and long-term responsible business practices.

You will act as a sustainability champion internally and externally, helping to ensure our projects meet required accreditation standards while contributing to the continuous development of our ESG strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Support & Accreditation
    • Support project teams in achieving sustainability accreditations such as SKA, BREEAM and LEED.
    • Assist in delivering health and wellbeing accreditations such as WELL and Fitwel.
    • Attend relevant project meetings and liaise with external MEP, environmental and sustainability consultants where required.
    • Help ensure project compliance with sustainability targets and assessment criteria.
  • ESG Strategy & Company Performance
    • Assist the Head of Sustainability in maintaining company accreditations and sustainability targets.
    • Support monitoring and reporting of company-wide sustainability performance.
    • Contribute to updating sustainability policies and roadmaps.
  • Research & Innovation
    • Stay informed on low and zero-carbon technologies and emerging industry best practice.
    • Make recommendations for sustainable materials and construction methods.
    • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, standards and research.
  • Engagement & Communication
    • Act as a sustainability champion for colleagues and clients.
    • Engage with suppliers, consultants, and clients to promote sustainability targets.
    • Support the creation of sustainability content for tenders, PQQs, award submissions and marketing materials.
    • Assist in organising internal CPDs and knowledge-sharing sessions.
    • Attend relevant seminars, conferences and industry events to support professional development.
Skills & Experience Required
  • A degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Construction Management or a related discipline (desirable).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to confidently articulate ESG topics, including technical concepts.
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret and report on data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage workload and prioritise effectively.
  • A genuine passion for sustainability and a strong desire to learn and develop within the role.
