We are excited to offer an internal opportunity for a Fee Earner in the Schools Practice, working directly with Freddie Dennis (Head of Practice) and contributing to the continued growth of a strategically important and high-impact sector for the firm.

This role offers the opportunity to take a leading position in a well-established and relationship-driven market, with a clear and credible route to Partner for individuals looking to build a long-term career path. Ideally London-based, but open to any other offices around the UK with time spent in London with the team.

Why Schools?

  • A Growing and Meaningful Sector: The education sector has evolved significantly over the last decade with many schools now operating in a more business-like way to expand their commercial scope and international reach. Driven by growing investment and a continuous demand for excellent leadership, our practice focuses on key appointments that meet these needs across a broad range of educational organisations.
  • High-Value, Relationship-led Work: We appoint leaders that shape the educational landscape and inspire the next generation – with roles spanning Headships, Deputy Heads, Chairs, and more. Researchers, EAs, and Consultants work closely together and frequently visit clients and their schools, whether locally or abroad. This hands-on, immersive approach ensures we deliver the very best results for leading schools across the world.
  • Strong Revenue Potential: Honed over 15 years, the schools practice has built an incredible network and long-term partnerships. Repeat mandates and loyal clients create a strong foundation for sustainable business development. As the sector is changing rapidly and becoming increasingly commercial, the opportunities for revenue growth are huge.
  • Opportunity to Build a Market Position: There is plenty of scope for you to establish yourself as a recognised specialist within a defined and respected sector. Whether within UK schools, international schools, the state-maintained sector, a specific Board or Senior Leadership Team role, or the nursery or prep worlds.

Who would this suit?

An existing Consultant, Principal, or early-stage Partner with a keen interest in the Schools and Education sector, looking to build or deepen a specialist market and grow a long-term, partner-level career path.

Key skills and attributes we are looking for:

  • Proven Fee-Earner with growth ambition – track record of delivering mandates and building client relationships, with the desire to grow a personal market and progress further toward (or within) Partner level.
  • Sector curiosity and credibility – a genuine interest in education and school leadership, with the ability to quickly build insight, networks, and trust in a values-led, relationship-driven market.
  • Business development capability – confident identifying opportunities, converting work, and contributing to the growth of the Schools Practice alongside Freddie Dennis.
  • Leadership and collaboration – able to lead mandates end-to-end while working effectively with Research and EA teams and contributing to the overall success and culture of the practice.

The Opportunity & Commercial Proposition:

This is a fee-earning role with clear expectations for revenue contribution and a focus on developing deep sector expertise. Supported by a well-established platform and strong leadership, you will take full responsibility for your sales and billing targets while driving forward-thinking, proactive business development.

You will:

  • Take ownership of senior search mandates across the Schools Practice, managing assignments end-to-end and ensuring consistently high-quality delivery.
  • Develop, nurture, and convert client relationships to build a sustainable and growing book of business, aligned with a clear, focused business development plan.
  • Leverage Freddie Dennis’ market position and network to accelerate your own personal profile and deepen your sector presence.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider team for guidance and support, while maintaining accountability for meeting your sales and billing targets.
  • Build a path to Partner by consistently delivering strong performance, growing revenue, and making measurable impact within the Schools and wider education market.

The Process:

As with all our internal appointments, the process is: A confidential conversation with Freddie Dennis or Sam Boon to discuss if this may be the right opportunity for you. Inform your line manager if you wish to proceed. Submit your application. Interview process. Decision. All internal processes will remain confidential. For a confidential conversation, please reach out to Sam Boon or Freddie Dennis directly.
