Wales / UK-wide

WPP IM Co is being established as an FCA-regulated investment management company to serve the eight Welsh Local Government Pension Scheme funds, managing more than £25 billion for 412,000 members. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help shape a permanent, world-class investment institution for Wales and to design and lead the investment capability of a new, regulated company at the heart of UKLGPS reform.

With Government backing, and authorisation targeted for March 2026, WPP IM Co will operate to global standards with a Welsh purpose – combining professional excellence with a clear public mandate. Over time, WPP IM Co will help channel long-term pension capital into clean energy, affordable housing, innovation and other investments that strengthen Wales and the UK – demonstrating how responsible investment can serve members and the communities they live in.

The organisation is now seeking its first ever Independent Non-Executive Chair to lead the Board through mobilisation and into operation. The Chair will set the tone for integrity, professionalism and public purpose – ensuring effective governance, strong fiduciary standards and trusted relationships with Government, regulators and shareholders.

You will lead a compact, high-calibre Board that brings together independent and shareholder directors alongside experienced executives. Working with the CEO and Board colleagues, you will help shape strategy, embed robust governance, and ensure WPP IM Co delivers for its investors, its members and for Wales.

You may already be an experienced NED or Chair, or ready to take that step for the first time as an Executive. You will bring strategic clarity and calm authority at Board level and a steady hand with a collaborative style. You will be able to build trust across Government, regulators and markets and will be politically astute, operating with integrity and good judgement while appreciating that WPP IM Co exists in a devolved nation context. In addition, you will bring experience within investment management, pensions or financial services regulation.

Welsh connectivity or experience is desirable, and the ability to speak Welsh is not essential, however would be an advantage.

To have a confidential conversation about the role with Odgers\’ team in Wales, please call Jemma Terry, Leighton Freeman or Steffan Griffiths on or email us at . All applications will be acknowledged, and we particularly welcome applications from diverse candidates.

To apply, please submit a CV by 14 November 2025
