A vacancy has arisen for the position of Drilling Operations Engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with clients and offshore teams to understand and agree common goals and objectives for operational rigs, fostering a working relationship based on integrity and trust.
  • Driving Performance Improvement.
  • Update operational procedures based on systematic transfer of experience.
  • Relay to other Odfjell units/areas where relevant.
  • Participate in the review of working practices.
  • Take the lead with digital drilling programs.
  • Support and actively promote the Company’s behavioural safety programme and establish site related safety initiatives.
  • Ensure communication and information transfer towards clients and other company personnel.
  • Represent the Company in a professional manner both on and off the job to include confidentiality and ethics of both the Company and client business.
  • Be placed in the client office to represent the company goals and ambitions.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by your supervisor.
  • Show necessary initiative and creativity in daily work within area of responsibility.
  • Ensure Drilling Performance delivers maximum value by engaging with the customer and closely working with the offshore Performance Planner and client drilling operations team and their third parties.
  • Monitor rig performance reporting.
  • Liaise with offshore Rig Performance Engineer to identify trends and establish root cause and solutions for loss events.
  • Ensure solutions are sought and implemented.
  • Co‑operate with drilling management and clients to develop and determine goals, KPI’s, Lessons Learned and action plans, with regard to drilling operations.
  • Identify / develop Best Practices based on analyses of operational experience, flat spot analysis and Lessons Learned and ensure implementation across shifts.
  • Provide onshore support to 'Rig Manager' reporting suite for offshore users.
  • Engage with customer in drilling performance discussions to highlight opportunities and identify challenges to success.
  • Promote new technology that can improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, review of client feedback, status of objectives, and identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Communicate to the Drilling team for areas of development or changes needed.
  • Support the leadership team to grow their understanding of how increased performance and operational efficiency can and will add substantial value.
  • Strive to identify and overcome key obstacles which prevent performance & efficiency improvements.
  • Co-ordinate the overall continuous improvement effort through undertaking offshore visits to observe issues and performance improvement techniques first hand.
  • Capture and share pertinent learnings with the client and the wider PDR team for input to CMS Level 4 and upgrade to Level 3 where relevant.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience of Offshore Drilling Rig operations or; 3+ years’ experience of Offshore Drilling Rig supervision/management; or Engineering Degree, preferable not mandatory.
  • Proficient in the use of IT software and IT systems.
  • Experience in leadership.
  • All necessary basic training for offshore visits.
