The Opportunity
A highly regarded, forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Property Litigation Solicitor at Managing Associate or Partner level to establish and lead a newly created Property Litigation function. This is a rare and genuinely exciting opportunity to become the first dedicated Property Litigator in the team, with the autonomy to shape the direction, growth, and identity of the department from the outset. The successful candidate will step into a role with a strong and immediate pipeline of existing work, generated through the firm’s established Real Estate practice. There is no requirement to bring a portable client following, but significant scope to develop the function further over time. This is a strategic hire for the firm, offering autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to build something meaningful within a well-supported and collaborative environment.
The Role
You will take ownership of a busy and varied Property Litigation caseload, working closely with the Real Estate team and wider Commercial Litigation department. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a diverse caseload of property litigation matters from inception to resolution
- Advising on landlord and tenant disputes, boundary issues, easements, adverse possession, and wider property-related conflicts
- Working closely with a well-established Real Estate team
- Handling matters independently with full autonomy and minimal supervision
- Contributing to the development and long-term growth of the Property Litigation offering
- Collaborating with the Head of Commercial Litigation on strategic department development
Candidate Requirements
The firm is open to applications from Managing Associate, Senior Associate, or Partner level candidates. You will be:
- A qualified Solicitor
- Experienced in Property Litigation
- Confident managing your own caseload independently without supervision
- Comfortable handling complex, high-quality work with a commercial approach
- Proactive, self-sufficient, and motivated by the opportunity to build and shape a practice area
- Demonstrating senior-level capability and the ability to operate autonomously from day one
Team & Culture
You will join a friendly, collaborative, and highly respected firm with a strong reputation with clients across the North West and London. Close working relationship between practice areas. Direct reporting line into the Head of Commercial Litigation. Supportive and down-to-earth culture with strong professional trust and autonomy. Flexible approach to working patterns, with hybrid arrangements available.
Benefits & Package
The firm offers a comprehensive and flexible benefits package designed to support both professional and personal wellbeing:
- Group Life Insurance: 2x salary
- Pension Scheme: 4% employer contribution (salary sacrifice)
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Holiday Buy/Sell Scheme (up to 5 days per year)
- Additional holiday entitlement: +1 day per year of service (up to 30 days maximum)
- Paid “Give Back Day” for charitable or community work
- Health & Wellbeing Platform (“Spark”) including: 24/7 virtual GP access, mental health and wellbeing support services, digital fitness and gym content, nutrition and lifestyle guidance
- Company sick pay
- Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
- Regular firm social and networking events
Why This Role?
This is a standout opportunity for an experienced Property Litigation specialist to step into a leadership position at an early stage of development, with the rare chance to build and shape a department rather than simply join one. With an established flow of work already in place, strong internal collaboration, and a flexible, supportive culture, this role offers both autonomy and security in equal measure. If you are a Senior Property Litigator who is looking for their next step, I'd love to hear from you.
