A highly regarded specialist commercial law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join its expanding Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution team in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Associate or Senior Associate to join a partner-led team handling complex, high-quality litigation for a broad range of commercial clients. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced litigators on a varied and business-critical caseload, while also benefiting from significant autonomy, direct client exposure, and genuine long-term progression opportunities.
The firm has an established reputation across the North West business community and advises owner-managed businesses, corporates, directors, shareholders, investors, lenders, landlords and high-net-worth individuals on a wide range of contentious matters. The Role
You will manage a broad and varied caseload of commercial disputes from instruction through to resolution, while supporting on larger and more complex litigation matters. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a varied caseload of commercial litigation matters from inception through to settlement and, where necessary, trial
- Advising clients on litigation strategy, merits, costs exposure and commercial risk
- Drafting pleadings, court applications, witness statements and other litigation documentation
- Handling pre-action correspondence and settlement negotiations
- Managing disclosure, witness evidence and expert evidence processes
- Instructing counsel and external experts where required
- Attending hearings, mediations and settlement meetings
- Working closely with partners on complex and high-value disputes
- Supporting business development initiatives and helping grow the department’s profile
- Maintaining excellent client relationships through responsive and commercially focused advice
Candidate Requirements
The firm is open to candidates at Associate or Senior Associate level with a strong commercial litigation background. You will be:
- A qualified Solicitor with 4+ years PQE in Commercial Litigation / Dispute Resolution
- Experienced managing your own caseload independently
- Technically strong with solid knowledge of the CPR and litigation procedure
- Confident drafting pleadings, applications and strategic correspondence
- Commercially aware with strong client-facing skills
- Organised and capable of managing competing deadlines effectively
- Interested in business development and building long-term client relationships
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced and collaborative litigation team
