An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and proactive Float / Conveyancing Legal Secretary to join a busy solicitors office in the Southend-on-Sea office. This varied role will primarily involve providing secretarial support to the Residential Conveyancing team, whilst also offering float support across other legal departments. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering first-class support to colleagues and clients alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Residential Conveyancing team.
  • Offer float support across other legal departments as required.
  • Prepare, amend and format legal documents, contracts, correspondence and reports.
  • Open new client files and complete client onboarding procedures.
  • Manage fee earners' diaries, appointments and inboxes.
  • Submit property searches and prepare completion statements.
  • Assist with exchange and completion administration.
  • Produce documents using digital dictation and audio typing.
  • Assist with billing, time recording and file closing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate files in line with firm procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional client care and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary.
  • The flexibility and confidence to support multiple legal departments when required.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • Strong audio typing and document production skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Outstanding communication and client care skills.
  • Experience using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive, adaptable and team-focused approach.
