A respected multi-office law firm based in East Sussex is seeking an experienced and highly organised Practice Manager to join their leadership team, following the upcoming retirement of the current post-holder. This is a pivotal role supporting the Managing Partner and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm. The Practice Manager will take ownership of key business support functions, including HR, compliance, finance, IT, facilities, marketing, and professional development.
This is a full-time, Hastings-based role, offering the opportunity to help shape firm-wide strategy while ensuring smooth operational delivery in a busy legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Overseeing recruitment, onboarding, and staff development across all legal and support teams
- Managing office operations and facilities across multiple sites
- Handling payroll, pensions, and insurance administration
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory and health & safety obligations (including SRA requirements)
- Managing supplier contracts and third-party relationships
- Leading wellbeing, training, and professional development initiatives
- Supporting long-term strategic planning and delivery of key operational projects
- Proven experience in a senior operational or HR leadership role, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory compliance relevant to legal practice
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
