Head of Commercial Property - Norwich
Salary: £70,000 – £90,000
Location: Norwich
Level: Senior Associate / Salaried Partner
Experience: Commercial Property with previous management experience
A well-established regional law firm is looking to appoint a Head of Commercial Property to lead and develop its established Norwich-based team.
This is a role for an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor who is ready to take a genuine leadership position, whether you are already heading up a team or are a Senior Associate looking for the opportunity to step into a leadership role.
The team is well established, with a strong senior support structure already in place, providing a solid platform for the successful candidate and helping to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the leadership and continued development of the Commercial Property team, while maintaining your own caseload.
The role will include:
- Leading, managing and developing an established Commercial Property team.
- Providing technical guidance, supervision and mentoring to the wider team.
- Taking an active role in recruitment, performance management and the development of junior lawyers and support staff.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and professional contacts.
- Developing new business and increasing the profile of the Commercial Property offering in the local market.
- Taking responsibility for the financial performance and continued growth of the department.
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider firm, including the Corporate team, to identify opportunities and provide a joined-up service to clients.
- Contributing to the wider strategic direction of the firm as part of the senior leadership team.
About You
The firm is looking for someone who can combine strong technical Commercial Property experience with genuine people and leadership skills.
You may already be a Head of Department, Partner or Senior Associate with previous management experience and be looking for a role where you can have more influence.
The key requirements are:
- Significant experience in Commercial Property.
- Previous experience managing, supervising or developing a team.
- A strong technical and commercial understanding of Commercial Property.
- Confidence managing client relationships and developing new business.
- A commercial approach and the desire to grow a department rather than simply maintain the status quo.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A collaborative approach to leadership and team development.
A team move could also be considered for the right individuals.
The Opportunity
This is not simply a case of taking over an existing department and keeping things ticking along.
The firm is looking for someone who wants to put their own name on the Commercial Property offering, develop its profile and play a significant role in its future growth.
The department is already established, meaning there is a strong platform to build from, but there is genuine scope for the successful candidate to influence how the team develops, grow the client base and increase the level and value of work coming into the department.
You will be joining a team with an experienced senior structure around you, providing support as you transition into the leadership role. This includes experienced senior colleagues who can provide guidance and support while you establish yourself and begin shaping the department in your own way.
You will join at Salaried Partner level, with genuine scope to progress towards Equity in the future. The firm is relatively agile in its approach to progression, meaning there is a clear opportunity for someone who demonstrates the ability and ambition to grow the practice.
The Firm
The firm is a well-established regional practice with a strong presence across Norfolk and a friendly, collaborative culture.
The Commercial Property team is experienced and well supported, with a mixture of senior lawyers, solicitors, paralegals and support staff.
The successful candidate will be based from the firm's Norwich office, with an expectation of being office-based during the first six months while they establish themselves within the team. Longer-term flexibility can be discussed.
The firm offers a supportive environment where senior individuals are given the opportunity to have a genuine influence on the direction of their department and the wider business.
Benefits
- £70,000 – £90,000 salary
- Salaried Partner position
- Genuine scope for Equity progression
- Bupa healthcare cash plan
- Contributory pension scheme
- 27 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Paid Christmas office closure days
- Personal Development Plan
- Wellbeing support
- Agile/Flexible Working Policy
