A growing law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Legal Assistant / Secretary to join its Family Law team in Whitefield. This is a varied support role working closely with fee earners, helping to ensure matters progress smoothly while delivering a high standard of client care and administrative support. It would suit someone with previous family law support experience who is comfortable working in a busy office environment.

The Role

  • Dealing with enquiries from clients, solicitors, and other third parties
  • Providing regular client updates and monitoring matter progression
  • Opening and closing files on the case management system in line with AML, quality standards, and Solicitors Regulation Authority regulations
  • Assisting with drafting basic correspondence, forms, and legal documents under supervision
  • Preparing and submitting forms and legal documents to HM Courts & Tribunals Service and the Legal Aid Agency
  • Maintaining contact lists, diaries, and calendars for fee earners
  • Monitoring deadlines and managing appointments
  • Preparing and submitting bills, payments, and receipts, and liaising with the finance team
  • Handling overflow client telephone calls and providing reception cover when required
  • Managing post and banking duties
  • Supporting the wider team with general administrative tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day office operations

About You

  • Experience working as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary within family law
  • Ability to commute to the Whitefield office
  • Good understanding of day-to-day legal office procedures
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience using case management systems
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
