An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Litigation Associate (1+ PQE) to join a highly regarded, specialist dispute resolution team within a leading independent law firm in the Manchester area.

The firm is a Top 200 UK law firm and its commercial litigation practice is Tier 1 ranked in The Legal 500, reflecting its strong reputation for delivering high-quality advice and representation across a broad range of commercial disputes.

The team

The Commercial Litigation team is recognised as one of the leading specialist dispute resolution practices in the region and is a trusted adviser to businesses facing complex and potentially high-value disputes.

The team provides pragmatic, commercially focused advice across a wide range of contentious matters, working closely with clients from the initial stages of a dispute through to resolution and, where necessary, litigation.

The role

The successful candidate will work closely with partners and senior members of the team, while also having the opportunity to manage their own matters under appropriate supervision.

The role will involve a broad range of commercial litigation and dispute resolution work, including:

  • Commercial and contractual disputes
  • Company and shareholder disputes
  • Partnership disputes
  • Professional negligence claims
  • Intellectual property and IT disputes
  • Commercial agency claims
  • Insolvency litigation
  • Banking and finance disputes
  • Injunctive relief and urgent applications
  • Search orders
  • Franchise disputes
  • Defamation and reputation management

There will also be opportunities to contribute to business development and practice development, both within the litigation team and across the wider firm.

About you

We are looking for a solicitor with at least 1 years' PQE.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong training and experience in commercial litigation
  • Good all-round contentious experience
  • Experience working with SME and/or owner-managed business clients
  • The ability to support senior litigators on complex matters
  • The confidence to manage smaller matters with appropriate supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A commercially minded and client-focused approach
  • The ability to respond effectively to urgent client requirements
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the wider team
