We’re working with a well-regarded regional law firm who are looking for a Legal Secretary to join their Private Client team in Macclesfield. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with Senior Fee Earners, undertake some supervised fee-earning work, and provide vital support to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
Responsibilities include:
- Typing dictations and preparing legal documents, court bundles, and correspondence to a high standard
- Managing client communications – providing routine updates, chasing information, and handling calls (without providing legal advice)
- Opening new files, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with quality and risk management procedures
- Supporting fee earners by deputising in their absence, managing diaries, arranging travel, and booking meetings
- Preparing, checking, and sending out letters, emails, and enclosures in the firm’s house style
- Raising bills, handling payments, and liaising with the accounts team
- Coordinating filing systems (paper and electronic), scanning, copying, binding, and booking couriers as required
- Ensuring excellent client care standards and contributing to the smooth running of the team
- Undertaking training and continuous self-development, particularly in IT, case management, and modern legal practice
What we need from you:
- Previous legal secretarial experience (Private Client desirable)
- Audio typing skills
- Excellent organisation and communication skills – written, telephone, and face-to-face
