Overview
We are working with a specialist law firm to recruit a Legal Cashier to join their growing finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a values-driven practice with a strong reputation in the Court of Protection and Private Client space.
Base pay range
- Salary up to £29,000 per annum
- Varied, hands-on role in a specialist legal environment
- Full-time position based in Manchester with hybrid working available
The firm is looking for someone with at least two years’ experience in legal cashiering who is confident working within the Solicitors Accounts Rules and enjoys variety in their day-to-day role. You’ll be joining a friendly team of seven, working closely with the Legal Cashier Team Lead, and contributing to a broad range of finance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring and allocating receipts across Client and Office accounts
- Processing online payments including Faster Payments, CHAPS, and SWIFT
- Supporting with recurring payment instructions across 800+ deputy client accounts
- Liaising with banks to resolve transaction queries
- Handling funds held in deposit accounts (e.g. NS&I, Court Funds Office)
- Managing payroll and associated tax/pension tasks for clients employing carers
- Reconciling credit card, debit card, and cheque control accounts
- Processing client bills, expenses, and supplier invoices
- Recording property completions and applying VAT correctly
- Supporting residual balance checks and ad hoc finance tasks
What we need from you
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a legal cashier
- Strong attention to detail and numeracy
- Good knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and electronic filing systems
- Organised, reliable, and comfortable working in a team
- Experience using SOS Connect is a plus, but not essential
